According to the Mail On Sunday, the fast-track visa scheme that allows foreign workers into Britain to compete in an overcrowded IT jobs market may be investigated.
The National Audit Office is making 'preliminary inquiries' that could lead to a full-blown investigation of Work Permits UK, part of the Home Office.
The Professional Contractors' Group says some companies are exploiting a loophole that allows them to transfer staff from overseas subsidiaries. It also says its complaints to Work Permits UK (WPU) are not being followed up.
