Australian IR35 changes

The Australian Prime Minister john Howard has had a change of heart it seems on the governments new tax laws, and has asked the cabinet to greatly reduce the severity of the new legislation.

Howard has asked that the law rather be one whereby the person or business concerned can do a 'self- assessment', and thereby determine their own tax liability.

This turnaround is well timed with the election on the horizon and the fact that businesses and accountants have slammed the new laws as unfair and claim that the legislation targets genuine businesses.
