Revenue to intensify investigations

Contractors had another shock warning today, as the Revenue came out saying that it would be picking up the intensity of its tax investigations, in an effort to put a stop to people not paying the correct tax.

The Revenue has said that they are expecting up to 75% of people who they inspect will incur fines for paying too little tax.

It has also been said that there will be no leniancy offered to people who are caught because of 'mistakes', these people will be fined along with the rest.

This has resulted in a public outcry, as the Revenue stated in it's last annual report that it got some 20% of it's decisions wrong!!

So it would seem then that another warning has been offered by the Revenue, it is just a question of who heeds that warning!
